Zijin Golden Ridge Limited (ZGRL) has reaffirmed its commitment to the Birim North District through collaboration in the areas of local employment, worker safety, and peaceful coexistence.

The mining company says dialogue, open communication, and continuous engagement form the foundation for a strong and mutually beneficial long-term partnership with its host communities.

ZGRL made this known at a signing ceremony held at the Birim North District Assembly, which brought together traditional authorities, youth leaders from affected communities, and members of the District Security Council.

The event culminated in the signing of a Framework Agreement that clarifies issues relating to pre-employment health requirements for specific mining roles.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President for Human Resources at Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, Harry He, said the agreement reflects the company’s approach to responsible mining and partnership with host communities.

“This Framework Agreement brings clarity, transparency, and balance. It allows us to meet our legal and safety obligations while remaining responsive to the concerns of our host communities. Above all, it reinforces our belief that sustainable operations are built on trust, dialogue, and shared responsibility,” he said.

Alexander Ofori, who spoke on behalf of youth groups in the affected communities, described the agreement as evidence of the peaceful manner in which the company intends to operate.

“The signing of this agreement reflects the peaceful nature in which Zijin wants to operate in this area. We are inspired by the company’s vision for this community, and we are ready to collaborate to achieve it. The youth need jobs, and everyone is looking forward to the opportunities this development will bring,” he stated.

On his part, the District Chief Executive of the Birim North District, Hakeem Abdul Antwi, said the signing marked the beginning of a new phase of development for the district.

“I am impressed by what we have achieved today. It is about the youth, the company, and nananom. Through dialogue, we have made meaningful progress by signing this agreement. I will champion this cause to ensure peace prevails in this area,” he said.

The Framework Agreement forms part of Zijin Golden Ridge Limited’s broader development agenda, which focuses on responsible mining, local capacity building, and long-term socio-economic development in its areas of operation.

Through sustained engagement with traditional authorities, local government, and host communities, the company aims to create shared value while promoting stability, safety, and inclusive growth in the Birim North District.
