Sierra Leone is set to host the 2026 edition of its Mining Week from May 19 to 23 at the Freetown International Conference Centre, as the country intensifies efforts to position itself as a leading destination for responsible mineral investment in Africa.

The upcoming event builds on the success of the inaugural 2025 edition and will also host the 11th Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA), bringing continental attention to Sierra Leone’s mining sector.

Organised under the theme, “Our Mineral Resources: Responsible Mining, Value Multiplication, and Shared Prosperity,” the event will focus on advancing sustainable mining practices while ensuring that the country’s mineral wealth translates into tangible benefits for local communities.

Mining Week 2026 is expected to convene a broad range of stakeholders, including government officials, mining companies, industry leaders, investors and service providers. Discussions will centre on key challenges, emerging opportunities and innovations shaping Sierra Leone’s mining industry.

An exhibition component will showcase mining technologies, equipment and services, providing participants with opportunities to network, explore partnerships and strengthen business linkages within the sector.

The event is also aimed at promoting Sierra Leone’s vast mineral potential while reinforcing its commitment to responsible and transparent mining practices. With planned panel discussions and business engagement sessions, organisers say the programme is designed to attract both existing industry players and prospective investors.
