Gold Fields engages Tarkwa communities on development priorities

Gold Fields Ghana has engaged key stakeholders from its host communities through its second-quarter Tarkwa Mine Community Consultative Committee (TMCCC) meeting, providing updates on development projects and gathering community input to enhance project implementation.

The meeting brought together representatives of host communities and officials of Gold Fields’ Tarkwa Mine to discuss development priorities, ongoing initiatives and other issues of mutual interest.

During the engagement, the company’s Community Relations team presented progress on a number of community development programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and social welfare in its operational areas.

Among the initiatives highlighted were infrastructure projects, scholarship support for 120 students, the Community Oil Palm Programme and the HEAL medical outreach initiative.

The company also announced that 58 community members had benefited from free surgeries delivered through a partnership with the Society of Family Physicians of Ghana and the Ghana Health Service.

According to Gold Fields, the consultative meeting also provided an opportunity for community stakeholders to share feedback and recommendations to strengthen the planning, delivery and impact of development projects.

The company said the regular stakeholder engagement forms part of its commitment to promoting transparency, strengthening collaboration and building long-term partnerships with its host communities.

Gold Fields noted that the Tarkwa Mine Community Consultative Committee remains an important platform for dialogue, enabling the company and community representatives to jointly identify development priorities and enhance sustainable community development.
