Adamus Lease Revocation: Review finds GH¢377.3m in unpaid taxes, royalties

Adamus Resources Limited owes the Government of Ghana GH¢86.8 million in unpaid royalties and GH¢290.5 million in tax arrears, an Inter-Ministerial Committee reviewing the company’s petition has found.

The findings contributed to the decision by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, to uphold the revocation of Adamus’ Akango, Salman and Nkroful mining leases.

The review also identified US$2.56 million in unpaid mineral rights fees, unexplained variances in gold exports and US$224 million transferred to related parties abroad between 2020 and 2024.

The committee further cited regulatory breaches, including the unauthorised assignment of mineral rights to foreign nationals, mining outside permitted areas and failure to obtain required environmental and forestry approvals.

Mr. Buah has indicated that he will seek an order requiring Adamus to settle its outstanding royalties, taxes and other financial liabilities to the government.

Meanwhile, the Minister has assured mine workers that operations will continue uninterrupted pending a further government decision.
