ECOWAS Mining Chambers, ICMI to hold cyanide management workshop in Abidjan

The International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI), in partnership with the ECOWAS Federation of Chambers of Mines (EFEDCOM), is set to hold a workshop on the implementation and auditing of the International Cyanide Management Code in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The two-day workshop is scheduled for November 16–17, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel Airport in Abidjan.

The programme is intended for mining companies, cyanide producers and transporters, environmental, health and safety (EHS) professionals, auditors, regulators, non-governmental organisations and industry associations.

According to the organisers, the workshop will provide participants with practical guidance on cyanide management, implementation of the International Cyanide Management Code, preparation for audits and international best practices.

The training will be facilitated by Dr Eric Schwamberger, Senior Vice President of the International Cyanide Management Institute.

Participation is priced at US$400 per person, with companies registering seven or more participants eligible for a 10 per cent discount.

The International Cyanide Management Code is a voluntary industry programme focused on the safe management of cyanide used in gold and silver mining and on protecting workers, communities and the environment from cyanide-related risks.

The Abidjan workshop forms part of efforts by the organisers to strengthen understanding and application of cyanide management standards among stakeholders in the mining sector.
