De Beers Group has announced the passing of Matome Tsholetsa Malema, CEO of the Minerals Development Company Botswana (MDCB) and a member of the De Beers Board.
Malema was appointed to the De Beers Board in 2023, bringing extensive operational expertise gained from his long career at Debswana, where he held various operational roles, including General Manager.
He was also deeply committed to sustainability, serving on the De Beers Sustainability Committee and providing guidance on numerous sustainability initiatives and projects.
Colleagues and industry partners remember him for his leadership, professionalism, and the wealth of experience he contributed to every role he undertook.
De Beers extended condolences to Malema’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
