The Minerals Commission has appointed Ing. Frank Asare, Esq., PE-GhIE, as Director of the Mineral Titles Department, a key directorate responsible for the administration and management of mineral rights in Ghana.

Ing. Asare is a professional engineer and a lawyer, bringing combined technical, legal, and policy expertise to the role at a time of heightened reforms in the mining sector.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Ghana, obtained between 2021 and 2023, and is affiliated with both the Ghana Bar Association and the Ghana Institution of Engineering.

He also studied at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, between 2007 and 2011, where he received his engineering training.

Professionally, Ing. Asare worked with Chirano Gold Mines Limited, then a subsidiary of Kinross Gold Corporation, from 2011 to 2020, serving as a junior metallurgist and gaining hands-on experience in large-scale gold mining operations.

In 2022, he established PEDMAX Company Limited, where he served as Chief Executive Officer until 2025.

He later took on public sector leadership roles, including Program Coordinator for the National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme, and recently  served as National Coordinator of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP), a government flagship initiative aimed at curbing illegal mining, promoting formalisation, creating jobs, and supporting skills development in mining communities.

He also works as a part-time lawyer with Excel Legal Consultancy.

His appointment is expected to strengthen mineral title administration, licensing oversight, and regulatory compliance, while supporting government efforts to improve transparency and sustainability across Ghana’s mining value chain.
