The Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission,  Isaac Tandoh, is leading a high-powered Ghanaian delegation to the 2026 Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Conference in Toronto.

The annual event, scheduled for March 1–4, 2026, is one of the world’s leading mining conventions, bringing together industry leaders, investors, exploration companies and policymakers to advance the sector through conversations, connections and capital.

This year’s conference will focus on sustainability, artificial intelligence integration, critical mineral supply chains, workforce safety, technological automation and resilient partnerships with Indigenous communities.

Ghana is participating in the conference as part of efforts to attract investment into its mining sector and promote the country as a leading mining destination in Africa. The Minerals Commission is expected to engage investors and industry stakeholders on Ghana’s geological potential, regulatory framework and opportunities across the mineral value chain.

Ghana’s geology is defined by six main Paleoproterozoic Birimian volcanic belts — the Sefwi, Ashanti, Winneba-Kibi, Bole-Nangodi, Asankrangwa and Wa-Lawra belts — known for hosting significant mineral deposits. The country produces gold, diamonds, manganese and bauxite, and is also advancing exploration for lithium and other strategic minerals. Additional mineral occurrences include iron ore, nickel, copper, limestone, salt, soda ash, kaolin, feldspar, quartz and columbite-tantalite.

At PDAC 2026, the Minerals Commission will highlight Ghana’s transparent mineral licensing regime, secure mineral rights tenure system, competitive fiscal environment and investor protection mechanisms. The delegation will also showcase the country’s digitised cadastral system, which streamlines licensing and permitting processes, as well as available geological data to support both greenfield and brownfield investment opportunities.

Ghana is also expected to emphasise its commitment to environmental, social and governance standards, local content development and sustainable mining practices.

The Ghana booth at the conference will serve as an engagement platform for junior exploration firms, major mining companies, institutional investors, engineering and technical service providers interested in scalable and responsible investment opportunities within the country’s mining sector.
