The engagement, organised together with GHIE-WInE, the Underground Mining Alliance and SGS, marked the official launch of the Mentorship Programme for Girls in Science at the school and formed the centerpiece of activities commemorating the 2026 International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

Held under the global theme, “From Vision to Impact: Redefining STEM by Closing the Gender Gap,” the programme brought female engineers from AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine into direct interaction with students, offering practical insights into careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Through interactive discussions and mentorship sessions, the engineers helped demystify STEM subjects, stimulated curiosity and shared real-world experiences aimed at building confidence and sustaining interest among the students.

The students expressed appreciation to AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine and its partners for the impactful engagement, noting that the initiative had reshaped their aspirations and reignited their interest in pursuing STEM-related careers.
