The Minerals Commission has issued a public warning over the circulation of fraudulent emails and communications by individuals impersonating its officials.

According to the Commission, the impersonators are using unofficial email addresses and digital platforms to contact members of the public, investors, and companies under the pretext of facilitating mineral licences, permits, registrations, payments, and other regulatory services.

In some cases, they attempt to solicit money or request sensitive information while falsely claiming to act on behalf of the Commission.

The Commission has clarified that such communications are fraudulent and do not originate from the institution or any of its authorised officers. It stressed that it does not request payments or confidential information through unofficial channels, private email accounts, or third-party intermediaries, noting that all official correspondence is conducted through authorised platforms.

The public and stakeholders within the mining sector have been urged to exercise caution and verify all communications before taking any action. The Commission also advised against making payments or sharing sensitive information with unknown individuals claiming to represent the institution.

It further encouraged anyone who receives suspicious messages or requests related to its operations to report them promptly for verification and appropriate action.

The Minerals Commission reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of Ghana’s mineral administration system and protecting the interests of the public and legitimate stakeholders, adding that it will continue to work with relevant authorities to combat such fraudulent activities.
