Ghana: Adamus CEO denies galamsey claims, submits evidence to government

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Adamus Resources Limited, Angela List, says the company has presented documentary evidence to government which she believes clears it of allegations raised by the Minerals Commission, insisting the firm remains a responsible large-scale mining operator with no involvement in illegal mining.
She maintains that Adamus Resources Limited has consistently supported efforts to combat illegal mining and strongly rejects any suggestion that it has engaged in galamsey activities.
Speaking after submitting a petition to government on Thursday April 30, List said the company has over the years taken deliberate steps to help curb illegal mining, adding that it has no incentive to operate outside the law.
“As you know, we consider ourselves one of the responsible large-scale mining companies. We have presented here ample evidence of all the actions that we have taken over the years, trying to combat the menace of illegal mining. As the mining leaseholder, we have no reason to engage in illegal mining. I will never condone that,” she said.
Her comments come amid government’s revocation of mining leases held by Adamus Resources Limited following investigations that cited alleged illegal mining activities, environmental breaches, and other regulatory violations.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources has since established a ministerial committee to review a petition filed by the company, while an interim management team has been deployed to oversee operations at the mine during the review process.
List said the petition submitted contains detailed documentary evidence aimed at refuting the allegations made by the Minerals Commission, and expressed hope that the materials will be carefully considered during the review process.
“It is our fervent hope that the petition we have presented today, which details all the documentary evidence refuting the allegations that were levelled against us by the Minerals Commission, will be considered in light of all this evidence,” she stated.
She also acknowledged recent tensions surrounding the matter, describing them as regrettable, while thanking workers, partners, banks, and members of the public for their support.
“We regret the series of events that have ensued over the last few days. I would like to thank the workers, our partners, our banks and the general public for showing support,” she said.
Angela List further commended the President, the Lands Minister, and the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle for ensuring the company is granted a fair hearing under due process.
She reaffirmed Adamus Resources Limited’s readiness to cooperate with any supervisory arrangements instituted by government as the review process continues.
