Asante Gold congratulates Ing Fred Attakumah on appointment as Ghana Chamber of Mines President

Asante Gold Corporation has congratulated its Executive Vice President and Country Director, Ing. Fred Attakumah, on his appointment as President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
The appointment follows Asante Gold’s assumption of the Chamber’s rotating presidency in June 2026 and was formalised at the Chamber’s 98th Annual General Meeting held in Accra on Friday.
In a statement, the company described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Mr. Attakumah’s leadership and extensive contributions to Ghana’s mining industry.
“Congratulations to our Executive Vice President and Country Director, Ing. Frederick Attakumah, on his appointment as President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
His appointment follows Asante Gold Corporation’s assumption of the rotating presidency of the Chamber in June 2026. We celebrate this well-deserved recognition and wish him success as he leads the Chamber in advancing Ghana’s mining industry,” the company said.
Mr. Attakumah succeeds Michael Edem Akafia of Gold Fields Ghana, whose tenure as President of the Chamber has ended.
A mining executive with more than three decades of experience, Mr. Attakumah has built a distinguished career in mine project development, operations management, sustainability, and corporate affairs.
Prior to joining Asante Gold, he served as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana Limited. He has also held senior leadership positions at AngloGold Ashanti, including Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited and Vice President of Sustainability for the company’s Ghana operations.
Mr. Attakumah holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Electrical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a Master of Business Administration from the Henley Business School in the United Kingdom.
His appointment comes at a pivotal time for Ghana’s mining sector as the industry focuses on boosting mineral production, attracting investment, implementing regulatory reforms, and advancing sustainable mining practices.
The Ghana Chamber of Mines serves as the principal industry association representing companies engaged in mineral exploration, production, and processing in the country.
