The Ghana Chamber of Mines says the government’s decision to provide a pathway for the revival of Adamus Resources Limited signals a strong commitment to dialogue, investor confidence and the preservation of productive mining assets.

The Chamber welcomed the agreement for the implementation of a 12-month roadmap to turn around the Adamus mine, supported by a six-member joint management team.

In a statement issued on Friday (21 August), the Chamber said the collaborative approach to resolving the impasse demonstrates the value of dialogue in addressing challenges within Ghana’s mining sector while safeguarding investments and productive assets.

“We believe this collaborative approach demonstrates a commitment to dialogue, investor confidence and the preservation of productive mining assets,” the Chamber said.

The Chamber said the successful revival of Adamus Resources would be significant to Ghana’s mining industry, describing the company as one of the country’s few indigenous large-scale mining operations.

It said restoring the mine to sustainable operations would help protect jobs, sustain local businesses and host communities, and preserve the mine’s contribution to government revenue and the wider mining value chain.

The Chamber commended the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, and the leadership of the Minerals Commission for their efforts in reaching what it described as a practical way forward.

It also acknowledged Adamus Resources Limited for its constructive engagement in the process.

The Chamber urged all parties to remain committed to the agreed roadmap and ensure transparency and accountability throughout its implementation.

It specifically called for outstanding liabilities to be addressed and the investment required for the sustainable operation of the mine to be secured.

The Chamber said it remained ready to support efforts that protect investments and jobs, promote responsible local participation and strengthen the long-term contribution of mining to Ghana’s development.
