Ghana: GRIDCo records GH¢584.46m profit after tax in 2025

he Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) recorded a profit after tax of GH¢584.46 million in 2025, according to Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor.

The Minister disclosed the figure during GRIDCo’s 13th Annual General Meeting, where the company’s performance for the 2025 financial year was reviewed.

According to Mr Jinapor, GRIDCo transmitted a record 25,860 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity during the year, while also recording strong reliability and availability across its transmission network.

He commended the company’s Board, Management and staff for the performance, particularly their role in restoring power following the Akosombo incident.

The Minister, however, charged GRIDCo to strengthen preventive maintenance, system monitoring, protection coordination and restoration preparedness to improve the reliability of the national transmission system.

He also urged the company to adopt innovative technologies and ensure that every system fault results in lessons and corrective action.

Mr Jinapor said government would continue to support critical transmission investments, including the Eastern Corridor Transmission Backbone, while working to strengthen generation capacity and national energy security.

He stressed that improvements in Ghana’s generation mix must be matched by a resilient transmission network.

The Minister said government’s broader objective is to restore GRIDCo’s position as one of Africa’s most reliable, innovative and financially sustainable transmission utilities.
