The Government of Ghana has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Eni Ghana, Vitol Upstream Tano Ltd (Vitol) and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) covering offshore acreages GH WB 3 and GH WB 8 in the Tano Basin.
Energy Minister John Jinapor announced the signing, describing it as a significant step towards revitalising oil and gas exploration and production and unlocking Ghana’s hydrocarbon potential.
According to the Minister, the agreements form part of the government’s broader upstream petroleum sector reforms aimed at strengthening the industry, attracting investment and creating a more competitive and predictable investment environment.
The Tano Basin is one of Ghana’s established petroleum exploration areas, with the country’s existing offshore oil and gas production concentrated in the broader Tano Basin area.
Mr Jinapor said the government remains committed to responsible exploration and production, effective management of Ghana’s petroleum resources and ensuring that the benefits from the country’s natural resources contribute to sustainable national development.
