Ghana’s Gomoa Special Economic Zone to get 270MW solar power project
Gomoa Central Member of Parliament Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, says preparations have begun for the construction of a 270MW solar energy project to provide power to the Gomoa Special Economic Zone and the Gomoa Eco Park.
According to Mr. Asare Obeng, he led a delegation from AKA Energy Systems, headed by its Chief Executive Officer, to meet President John Dramani Mahama to formally brief him on the planned project.
He said the solar project will be developed in phases, with Phase One expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
The project is intended to support electricity needs within the Gomoa Special Economic Zone, which the MP described as a major manufacturing, industrial and commercial hub, as well as the Gomoa Eco Park.
The proposed development comes as efforts continue to position the Gomoa area as a location for industrial and commercial activity, with reliable power supply identified as an important requirement for such developments.
