Gold Fields Foundation, World Vision commission solar-powered water facility in Damang

The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, in partnership with World Vision International, has handed over a new water supply system to the Damang community, aimed at improving access to safe and reliable drinking water.
The facility has a capacity of 160 cubic metres and is equipped with 18 standpipes to provide residents with convenient access to potable water. It also includes two fire hydrants to enhance emergency response and community safety.
Powered by energy from four solar installations, the system is designed to operate efficiently and sustainably, reducing reliance on conventional power sources and lowering operational costs.

The project was delivered at a cost of over US$480,000, with the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation contributing 70 percent of the funding and World Vision Ghana providing the remaining 30 percent.
According to the Foundation, the Damang water project is structured for long-term sustainability, ensuring consistent access to clean water while supporting improved public health, safety, and overall quality of life in the community.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the Foundation and its partners to support community development and build resilient, healthy communities in mining areas.
