Global mining giant BHP has announced the appointment of Brandon Craig as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2026. He will succeed Mike Henry, who is stepping down after six and a half years in the role.

Craig, currently President Americas, brings over 25 years of experience at BHP. He has played a key role in expanding the company’s footprint in future-facing commodities, including copper and potash, and previously led its Western Australia iron ore operations.

BHP Chair Ross McEwan expressed confidence in Craig’s leadership, citing his strong track record and ability to drive growth and performance.

Outgoing CEO Mike Henry was credited with transforming BHP into a safer, more productive and financially stronger company. During his tenure, the company streamlined its portfolio, became the world’s largest copper producer, reduced emissions, and delivered approximately $80 billion in shareholder returns.

Craig has pledged to build on this foundation, focusing on long-term value creation and continued growth.
