Five small-scale miners remain trapped at the Matala Gold Mine in Zambia’s Mumbwa District, five days after the underground incident occurred, according to the Ministry.

In a statement, the Ministry said its thoughts are with the affected families as hopes remain high for a successful rescue operation.
“It has been five days since five small-scale miners got trapped at the Matala Gold Mine in Mumbwa District. Our hearts are with the families and we continue hoping for the best news as rescue operations continue,” the Ministry stated.
