Ghana advances Petroleum Hub Agenda with Jomoro land acquisition

A joint team from the Lands Commission and the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) has commenced land acquisition activities within the tick forest area of Jomoro in the Western Region as part of preparations for the Petroleum Hub Project.

The exercise forms part of the government’s initial efforts to move the project from the planning stage into physical implementation.

Officials involved in the exercise say the ongoing acquisition process is a critical step toward securing land for the construction of key infrastructure under the Petroleum Hub initiative, which is expected to position Ghana as a major petroleum refining, storage and distribution centre in West Africa.

The team noted that a recent working visit by PHDC Chief Executive, Dr. Tony Aubynn, has boosted morale among officers on the ground and reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to advancing the project.

According to the officials, the land acquisition process marks a significant transition from policy and planning discussions to groundwork activities ahead of construction.

The Petroleum Hub Project is one of Ghana’s flagship industrialisation initiatives aimed at attracting investment into the downstream petroleum sector, creating jobs and enhancing the country’s energy infrastructure capacity.
