Zambia, Burundi strengthen mining ties through study visit

Zambia‘s Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development has hosted a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Mining Resources, Energy, Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Republic of Burundi.
The delegation paid a courtesy call on the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Hapenga Kabeta, in Lusaka earlier today.
The team is in Zambia for a five-day study visit aimed at strengthening cooperation and promoting knowledge-sharing between the two countries.
Hon. Pacifique Nshimirimana, Assistant Minister of Mining Resources, Energy, Industry, Trade and Tourism and leader of the delegation, said Zambia’s reputation as a mining hub has driven Burundi to seek insights into best practices in the sector.
Representing the Permanent Secretary, Director of Policy and Planning Mr. Tobias Musonda noted that Burundi, as a member of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), shares strong mining ties with Zambia, adding that the country is pleased to host the visit.
