Minister of Mines and Minerals Development, Paul Kabuswe, has officially launched the Zambia Mining & Investment Insaka 2026, positioning the event as a key platform to drive investment, strengthen regional value chains, and promote inclusive growth across Africa’s mining sector.

The conference is scheduled to take place from October 19 to 23 at the Government Complex in Lusaka under the theme “Transforming Africa’s Mining Landscape: Regional Value Chains, Shared Prosperity & Empowering Communities.”

Speaking at the media launch, Kabuswe said Insaka continues to grow in scale and relevance, with the 2026 edition expected to attract increased international participation and deliver more impactful outcomes.

He emphasized that the forum is designed to go beyond dialogue, focusing on tangible results such as partnerships and investment deals that can transform the mining industry and improve livelihoods.

“Each Insaka must report achievements from the previous one. We must have meetings that bring results, transform lives, and move the sector forward,” he stated.

Kabuswe noted that the event will also highlight Zambia’s ongoing reforms in the mining sector, including accelerated geological mapping—now approaching 70 percent completion—as well as strategies to increase copper production to 3 million metric tonnes annually.

He added that the government is prioritizing sustainability through the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, alongside efforts to formalize artisanal and small-scale mining.

Insaka 2026 is expected to bring together policymakers, investors, mining firms, and industry stakeholders to explore opportunities for building resilient regional value chains and advancing Africa’s mining-led development.
